Wow, did I need a rest day on Wednesday.
Rest After Work
I’ve been running around silly. At school my students are going through their International Baccalaureate exams. In writing I am waaaaaaayyyyyyy behind, with several articles, two books and a number of blog posts in many different stages on incompletion. Meanwhile I am running through a physically challenging regime of running and a modified version of Kris Gethin’s 12-week hardcore resistance training program.
On Tuesday I slept very poorly, a strong sign that something is off. Tuesday and Wednesday my mind was all over the place, with me forgetting several things I had to do. I can get absent-minded from time to time, but this was getting very bad. All of this indicates tress and probably some over-training was tearing down my body.
So Wednesday, with my plan indicating either 40 minutes of cross training or a rest day, I scrapped plans for a kickboxing session and chilled. I made sure I ate a good dinner, worked a bit on my to do list, but then chilled and watched a movie off YouTube. At 9pm I hit the sack and slept like the dead until 4:30. Woke up, still feeling tired, so postponed my morning run. Today I’ll do an easy run in the evening after work, then probably pick back up on the resistance training come Friday.
